Go to your site's control panel and open the "Plugins" section in the left menu, then select "Installed". Here you can check if the YOAST SEO plugin is installed.
If the plugin is not yet installed, go to the "Plugins" => "Add new" section and install it.
After installing the plugin, its icon will appear in the side menu. Click on it to go to the plugin settings.
There may be slight differences between different versions of WordPress and depending on the theme, but the basic functions are clear and accessible.
The general settings of the plugin include several subsections: “Console”, “Features”, “Integrations” and “Webmaster Tools”.
The Console section displays notifications about problems, if any. Here you can monitor the status of the site and receive useful tips.
Go to the Features tab, where you can enable or disable various features. At the initial stage, it is better to leave all the default settings and return to these settings later, when there is more content on the site and the need for individual settings arises.

Also in this section you can disable integration with some foreign services if you do not need them.
In the "Webmaster Tools" section you can register your website in popular systems such as Google, Yandex and Bing. After registration, you will receive a verification code, which you need to paste into the appropriate field of the plugin.
This section allows you to customize the display of your content in search engines. All the tools in this section help make your content more readable and user-friendly, and easier to recognize by search engines.
In the General Settings section, you can choose the title separator and other options that will help improve your site's visibility in searches.
Fill out the Meta Description block with the site name and short description, as well as personal information (for example, if you work as an individual). After that, save the changes.
On the Content Types tab, configure how different types of content appear on your site, leaving the settings at their defaults. In the Media section, configure the behavior of media files, and in the Taxonomies section, configure settings for categories and tags.
The "Archives" section allows you to disable the display of author archives, if necessary. In the Breadcrumbs (or Breadcrumbs) section, it's best to leave the setting turned off, as this feature is intended for more experienced users. Also leave the "RSS" section as is.
In this section, the plugin allows you to integrate your website with social networks. There are four tabs: Account, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. For social media to work, it is important that your site is set up like an organization. If you set up your site as a personal page, social media may not work properly.
If the site settings indicate that you work as an organization, then it makes sense to set up integration with social networks. Otherwise, you can leave the current settings.
After completing all the basic settings, save the changes and move on to the next section of the plugin.
