Why pay for SEO every month: necessity or marketing gimmicks

The question of why pay for SEO monthly often arises among entrepreneurs. In this article, I'll explain why this is important and clarify once and for all what's behind this process.

Are SEO subscription fees a scam?

It is very common to hear so-called "training specialists" - from large schools to private consultants - state that:

“Promoting your website on your own is easy,”

“No need to pay SEO specialists”

“You will be in the TOP 10 in 3 days”

and other similar promises.

I want to use a real case to show why without a qualified SEO specialist it will be difficult for you to achieve the desired results.

This article is based on an internal document prepared by our specialist for one of our clients to explain changes in promotion strategy.

Why can't you do SEO once and forget?

Search engines such as Yandex and Google update their ranking algorithms daily, which affect how sites appear in search results. These changes can significantly impact the amount of traffic that comes to your site.

Most of the changes are aimed at improving search, but not all of them are always useful for end users.

One of the most significant updates is a change in the type of search results.

This means that the same queries over time begin to show sites with different content that was created for different purposes.

Example:

The theme of the site is “beauty and cosmetology”.

  • Search query: permanent makeup price (commercial query)
  • PS: Yandex
  • Issue verification region: Moscow

Various aggregators and services appeared in the TOP 15 sites for this request:

We noticed that sites representing real studios began to disappear from high positions, and aggregators and other similar resources took their place.

This situation affected traffic to our site.

Analysis of search results showed that the share of studio sites has decreased, giving way to broader aggregators. This prompted us to decide to reconsider the internal optimization of service pages to restore lost traffic.

What was done:

  • We rebuilt the semantic core of the site, focusing on narrower queries that can help us better compete with aggregators.
  • Updated meta tags and descriptions on service pages to improve site visibility.

What is the result:

Site traffic not only returned to its previous level, but also began to grow, despite the fact that we only redesigned approximately 45% of the service pages.

This work continues, and in the future we plan to find new growth points.

Regular updating and reworking of content helps maintain stable and growing traffic. If we stopped at some stage, the results achieved would begin to gradually decline.

Conclusion: SEO requires constant attention. Changes in search results happen so quickly that “set it and forget it” no longer works. We need constant analysis and adjustment of the strategy.
