Every SEO specialist faces distrust from website owners. And this, frankly, is not the most pleasant feeling. Such distrust looks especially strange when the business owner himself finds a specialist, initiates contact, asks questions and doubts every word. At the same time, cooperation has not yet begun, there has not even been a discussion of the terms, but already at the acquaintance stage, wariness and questions arise.
Sometimes you want to ask: “You found me yourself, wrote to me, asked a bunch of questions, which I answered in detail. And yet you act as if I came to your doorstep and am trying to sell you something unnecessary and expensive. Show a little respect, because we don’t know each other personally, we don’t work and, believe me, I’m not going to force anything on you.”
But, naturally, I don’t say this out loud, because I understand where such mistrust comes from. First of all, our work remains something complex and incomprehensible for many people. People tend to be afraid of everything that is unfamiliar to them.
In addition, the site owner may have already had bad experiences with other specialists or agencies. I often come across situations when clients come to me after collaborating with large agencies that “wasted” budgets and in return provided only beautiful but useless reports. To overcome this mistrust, I always suggest that clients conduct an analysis of the work of previous contractors. A frank review of what was done helps the owner see that I am a responsible and honest specialist who can be trusted. After all, the agency will not reveal all the intricacies of its work if it is going to deceive the client.
In order to get rid of completely inadequate clients, I recommend voicing the obviously high cost of services. In most cases, after this, such people calm down and stop trying to carry on empty conversations.
Usually, after 2-3 months of work, clients begin to get used to regular reports, clear action plans, clear deadlines and prompt feedback. After this, questions and doubts are usually significantly reduced. Responsible work and proper communication can restore the client’s faith in the professionalism and honesty of specialists.
