Hello! I haven’t written on Yandex Zen or on my blog for a long time, and today I decided to share what has been happening in my life lately. It was a time of change and I will tell you how it all happened.
Let me start by saying that the company where I worked for several years suddenly had financial problems. I don't want to go into detail, but basically I was told that my salary was too high and they couldn't support me anymore. All this happened a couple of weeks before the holidays. I performed my duties conscientiously, but it turned out that the company was no longer able to cope with the crisis. When I was informed about this, the situation was already hopeless. But what to do? I'm not ashamed of my work, but moments like this are unpleasant.
When I was informed that I needed to look for a new job, only one thought flashed through my head: what will I do? I have a mortgage, a loan for renovations and two children. The job market in my city was not great, and the salary I received was quite high for local standards. But finding something like this was not easy. It’s good that they gave me almost two months to search, and for that I thank you.
There were only two weeks left until the end of the year, and people were preparing for the holidays. Some were buying gifts, others were preparing for fun feasts. Meanwhile, I was on the job search website and updating my resume, hoping that at least someone would respond during the holiday period.
As a result, there is silence until mid-January. Everyone is on vacation, and there are practically no vacancies. Then the warm-up begins, and employers are in no hurry to respond. I visited all the more or less decent companies in the city, but it turned out that in terms of salary, it wasn’t much better here. I was lucky that I still had a part-time job and a small financial reserve.
I also went to the capital and had several interviews, but the offers that came in were also not impressive. Moving to Moscow is not easy. Expenses for housing, transportation, and food eat up most of your income. For example, if you are offered 90 thousand in Moscow despite the fact that in your city you earn 50 thousand, then after deducting all the necessary expenses the difference becomes not so big.
Therefore, I chose a more stable option - I got a job at a local company with a decent salary. Of course, the mood was not the best, because mortgages and credit were pressing. But what to do, because there was nowhere to pull?
When I was looking for a job, I did something I had never done before. I wrote to all my acquaintances, friends, people with whom I had not communicated for a long time. I am a modest person and have always believed that it is best to rely on one’s own strength. But this time I felt that if I didn’t take advantage of all the opportunities, I would remain at an average level for the rest of my life. And the years go by, and I’m not getting any younger.
And you know, it worked. A chain of events led to me being invited for an interview at a large IT company. Soon I must complete my probationary period and become a full-time employee. This company really turned out to be what I dreamed of.
