I continue to share my experience and information about website promotion in the Google search engine.
In this section, I'll show you graphs that illustrate the results of clicks and impressions analysis from Google Search Console (and some statistics from Google Analytics) over the past six months.
This is exactly how long it took to achieve improvements using white hat SEO methods. But there is one important "but".
Why is growth so slow:
Yes, yes, hello to everyone who wants to make a website quickly and inexpensively. But in SEO, this will lead to a long and painful effort. And advertising systems, such as contextual advertising, now require significant investments, which may not be profitable for small businesses with a limited budget. This is difficult to understand, but easy to feel in your experience and in your wallet. Those who have already tried working with such tools know exactly what I mean.
So let's move on to analyzing the charts for each of the last six months:
The first two months - interest is steadily growing. After the first month, it already seems that the site is about to get to the top in 2-3 months. However, after the second month, reality slows down a bit.
At this time, you are actively working on filling the site with content. Trying to make the most of the designer's limited capabilities. An example of such platforms: popular website builders that small businesses often use. At this time, you carefully monitor all tags, meta descriptions, titles, and also regularly check that resources and scripts are loaded correctly.
However, even despite all the efforts, the site’s position remains at the level of 30-80 places. Some key queries make it to the TOP 10, but after a week they return to lower positions.
There is already traffic, albeit weak, but it is there. And the first conversions are even starting to arrive. But this is not enough.
Then the holiday season comes and users' attention shifts to other things. Transitions to the site are declining, and this applies to both organic traffic and traffic through advertising. The number of applications falls, and in January there is a real "calm".
At this time, there is a gradual improvement in the site’s position for several high-frequency key queries.
Of 80 keywords:
And since February, there has been a multiple increase in traffic from Google organic search. It's important to note that we're talking about the "initial" interaction with a site—the first session of new visitors.
And yes, indeed, important changes have taken place on the site - the engine has been replaced. Let's just say, goodbye to the designer, and hello to the good old one.
In the next article, I'll share the results, showing all the screenshots from PageSpeed Insights, comparing the before and after metrics. This will be an interesting and visual explanation of how Google's performance improvements impacted the site's performance. We will pay special attention to the mobile version.
In the meantime, I suggest you take a look at the graph of changes in organic traffic after moving the site.
After moving the site, I also kicked the Google bot, and as you can see, the changes are obvious. The site has become faster and performance has improved significantly.
What is important to us is the graph that displays “New Users”.
That's probably all. In the following articles I will explore two useful topics that I hope you will find interesting.
