Website optimization - who to trust to promote your website

Website optimization is an important process that allows you to correctly configure all elements to attract search traffic and avoid mistakes that can lead to negative consequences in search engines.

General concepts

I will not dwell on what SEO is, since those who are looking for information on this topic already understand what we are talking about. Instead, I want to draw attention to other aspects that often remain outside the scope of standard materials.

Many articles have been written about website optimization with advice based on the personal experience of webmasters. Someone studied the topic themselves, processing a large amount of information, both useful and less relevant.

This information, which is not always useful, also has its value, since it allows you to separate effective methods from those that do not work. It's a kind of experience.

Others pass on knowledge by teaching based on information received from more experienced professionals. Most materials, however, are rewritten texts that do not always have practical value.

My experiment

Over the course of four years, I repeatedly conducted experiments to understand the essence of this process. How did this happen? Let me tell you...

I created a website, filled it with 10-20 articles.

Then he added it to the webmaster of popular search engines.

Created a robots.txt file and added counters.

After setting up the plugins and installing the favicon, I went through all the necessary initial steps.

The essence of the experiment was as follows: I started contacting bloggers and webmasters who advertised their website optimization services. I wrote to them through contact forms or email asking them to help me optimize the site to increase traffic.

I received their advice and began to implement the recommendations. But the result? No changes.

I continued to contact other specialists, but received the same recommendations and, what is most interesting, they all contradicted each other. It was very annoying. Especially considering that at the beginning of my journey I also faced ridicule from more experienced webmasters.

As a result, I noticed real progress only after I received advice from one of the specialists. Thanks to his recommendations, I was able to significantly increase traffic on one of my sites and even more on another.

It's really hard to know who to listen to. Even if I were to judge by the number of successful projects, it would not help, since many bloggers do not disclose their statistics for privacy reasons.

What to do

Reading blogs, it became clear to me that many authors themselves do not know all the intricacies of optimization, and their advice is sometimes not as useful as it seems at first glance.

The reason for this is that many successful websites and blogs were created and developed during the “golden era” of link promotion, when this method was most relevant.

While links are still important, there are more factors influencing promotion today, and old methods no longer have the same effect as they once did.

Having seen so many companies offering website promotion for huge sums of money, I can't help but wonder why people continue to pay for advice that has long been made available to the public.

My advice

We won't achieve much with revelations alone. The best way to optimize is to analyze successful sites, use specialized services for testing and analysis, and make decisions based on the data obtained.

For example, I couldn’t find out which plugins were used on one site that was interesting to me. Then I decided to find a service for such analysis, and found one that showed a list of plugins used on other people's sites.

A similar approach can be applied to link analysis. There are various tools on the Internet that will help you find out which links lead to the resources you are interested in.

The most important tip is that after reading several blogs, you need to be able to highlight the most useful information. Don't blindly follow someone's recommendations, always use common sense, and the results will follow.

Good luck to you!
