Website optimization. A look through time

Since the advent of the first search engines, website promotion methods have remained relatively stable. If your site does not appear in popular search engines such as Yandex, this does not mean that it does not exist or is not visited. Most likely, this indicates a need for optimization.

For beginners, it will be useful to remember a few important tips before you start indexing your site. First of all, it is important to analyze visitor statistics, evaluate the performance of the site and understand how it is perceived by indexing systems. This process requires time and patience, but without it it is impossible to achieve effective progress. After this, you can move on to the next stage - the optimization process, which includes several key steps.

The first thing to consider is identifying unique keywords and phrases for your site. Next, you need to analyze these key phrases through search engines to make sure that they do not overlap with competitors' phrases (this can be done by analyzing the first few pages of search results). If any of your keywords are already being used by other sites, it's worth assessing what attracted search engines' attention to those pages. Remember that the keyword phrase should not be too long, otherwise the search engine may not take into account some of its words. Carry out this analysis regularly - at least once a month, and preferably twice. You can also try different variations of keyword phrases, as search engine algorithms may change.

Based on the data obtained, you should create attractive and unique descriptions for the pages of your site, as well as headings. Avoid cliched phrases such as "Welcome to..." or similar. Each description must be original, even if there are not many pages. This may take a little effort, but the results are worth the effort.

Third, you should stop using the “picture + text” combination, since such text will most likely not be perceived by search engines as key information. Moreover, if a site visitor disables images, he will not see the text on the image. It is recommended to use alt tags for images and text headings containing key phrases. This is the only way that search engines will be able to perceive these elements as important and relevant to user queries.

Finally, fourth, do not overuse frequent repetitions of keywords on the pages of your site. Search engines may regard such “oversaturation” as an attempt at manipulation and lower the page’s ranking. This rule does not apply to highly specialized articles where repetition of key phrases is inevitable, but in such cases you can use small tricks to avoid sanctions from search engines.
