SEO research on medical topics: Information about services

We continue the series of publications dedicated to our “Research on Medical Topics”. Today we will look at how fully the services are presented on the websites of medical clinics.

In the first publication, we talked about the goals of our research and the principles for selecting multidisciplinary medical clinics.

Part 3 “Information about services”

In this section, we examined how clinics present information about their services, including both diagnostic and treatment procedures.

The diagram shows statistics on the availability of each item (in this case, one of the services) on clinic websites.

The collected data helped not only to evaluate the information posted on the websites, but also to understand what services the clinics offer their patients.

Modern medicine is impossible without advanced diagnostic methods. Over the past few years, the number of consumers of diagnostic services has increased significantly. However, in recent years the growth rate has slowed significantly, due, among other things, to changes in equipment supplies.

This is especially noticeable in the diagnostics market, where imported equipment continues to make up a significant share, despite supply difficulties.

In addition, clinics that study sections of their websites in detail, describe in detail diagnostic methods, tests and rules for preparing for them, receive more traffic. It is noteworthy that 97% of clinics carefully worked through the “Diagnostics” sections, but only 88% of clinics did “Analyses”.

Many clinics post information about diagnosis and treatment on their websites, including the treatment of various diseases and the methods used. 86.6% of clinics tell what problems you can contact them with.

Doctors specializing in “surgeon” were found on the staff of some clinics, but the lack of specialized surgery departments at these clinics is, in fact, an omission.

Some clinics create separate websites for subspecialties, such as pediatrics, to more effectively reach relevant audiences. This allows such sites to be better indexed in search engines for highly targeted queries.

Home health services, such as on-call services, are also becoming an important part of treatment, especially for older patients or people with limited mobility. 64.4% of clinics reported having their own hospital.

Clinics with their own hospital can provide a full range of medical services, which is very convenient for patients who are treated in one place without having to move from one medical center to another.

Also, 73% of clinics reported the possibility of receiving medical services under VHI policies, but descriptions of corporate programs for such policies are found only on 38% of sites. At the same time, information about medical services under compulsory medical insurance policies is available only on 46% of clinic websites.

Results

Our analysis showed that most clinics talk about their services in sufficient detail. The final rating of the TOP 15 clinics in the “Information about services” section was compiled based on the information provided.

Unfortunately, not all clinics post complete information about their services, which can make it difficult for patients to choose the right clinic, especially when it comes to specific medical services or diagnostics.

The diagram shows the distribution of the importance of criteria on sites that occupy leading positions in search results.

Among the leading websites, the least popular services were “Doctor Call at Home” and “Corporate VHI Programs”. At the same time, all other criteria were worked out in 9 out of 10 clinics. The most popular were:

  • detailed information about diagnostic services;
  • having its own surgical department.

We consider the presence of each criterion in any section of the site - be it individual pages or mentions on general pages.

We recommend developing sites based on best practices and the importance of criteria, which will increase information content for patients and increase traffic from search engines!
