As part of a comprehensive SEO analysis, we examined 30 websites of children's development centers in Minsk, collecting them from the search results of popular search engines. The goal was to create a ranking based on SEO metrics to better understand how these sites are presented online. The rating is focused solely on SEO aspects and does not reflect other aspects of the companies’ work. We applied the following criteria: indexing, link mass, tag optimization, micro markup, reputation (on maps), content uniqueness, site performance, content and usability. Based on these factors, an overall score was assigned for each site, with a maximum score of 500.
Website indexing
Serious problems with indexing were found on almost all analyzed sites. In most cases, Yandex showed more or fewer pages than Google, indicating significant errors. Also, about 70% of sites suffered from duplicate pages. What to do: Check the settings of the robots.txt and sitemap.xml files to make sure that important pages are not hidden from indexing, and vice versa, exclude unnecessary pages from indexing. Eliminate all duplicates so that search robots do not get confused. Micro markup
Most sites do not use micro markup such as OpenGraph and Schema, which reduces the effectiveness of their snippets in search results. What to do: Implement micro markup on your site to improve the visibility and attractiveness of snippets. Be sure to mark up elements such as address, reviews, prices, images. Link mass
For most sites, the link mass left much to be desired, linking to no more than 50 domains. Leaders had significantly more inbound links, indicating the importance of this factor for SEO. What to do: Gradually increase the number of external links from quality sources, such as thematic blogs, news sites and other authoritative resources. Company reputation
By researching reviews on popular platforms, we found that most companies have very few reviews, which indicates a low level of work with reputation on the Internet. What to do: Sign up for popular review platforms such as business directories. Ask customers to leave reviews, offering bonuses or discounts for participation. Tag optimization
On most sites, the tags were either well optimized or needed minor improvements. However, the use of emoji in tags was extremely rare. What to do: Write meta tags for each page of the site. Pay attention to the importance of using emoji, as they make snippets more visible and attractive to users. Website performance
Website performance left many questions. More than 50% of sites had low scores on mobile devices, which negatively impacts the user experience. What to do: Optimize your images and fix other technical issues such as slow loading pages. Consider using AMP pages or turbo pages. Website development and Usability
Many sites were not mobile-friendly, which also affected their performance. Less than half of sites used SSL certificates, which is a critical factor for security and trust. What to do: Update your site for mobile devices, install an SSL certificate to protect and improve trust. Work with developers to improve the overall usability of the site. Website content
Many sites suffered from a lack of targeted actions on pages. Information about courses and programs was not presented fully enough, which reduced user engagement. What to do: Add clear calls to action on site pages, such as a feedback form or the ability to request a call. Fill the site with useful content: detailed course descriptions, reviews, photos and news. Conclusion
Having analyzed 30 websites of children's development centers in Minsk, we compiled an SEO optimization rating, in which the best website scored 343 points out of 500. This confirms that many websites have significant potential for improvement. By applying the right SEO practices, you can significantly improve your search rankings and attract more users.
