This experiment uses an interesting methodology that helps test the potential of different domain zones. For the experiment, 10 domains with abstract, meaningless names were registered, for example:
Each of these domains was registered in three different domain extensions: .es, .com and .cat (the latter for Catalan sites, used in north-eastern Spain). Each domain had Wordpress installed. Content for the sites was generated using random text generators, creating meaningless text in three languages: English, Spanish and Catalan. Articles were 600 words long, without the use of markup, hreflang or other SEO tools.
The interesting results of the experiment showed some unexpected findings about how domain zones affect rankings. For detailed information, you can read the full report on the corresponding resource.
