Greetings! I want to share the story of how my team managed to significantly increase traffic from search engines by three times in two months.
The owner of an online plumbing store approached us with a problem: the site had a huge range of products, but only a small part of them was indexed, and the traffic left much to be desired - less than 800 unique visitors per month.
After discussion with the client, we decided to start with a technical audit and basic SEO optimization to improve the site's visibility in search engines.
1. A technical audit was carried out.
2. Bugs found in the webmaster tool have been fixed.
3. Broken links have been removed.
4. An error was identified that prevented the indexing of product cards. The problem was the same meta tags on most pages. We set up automatic filling of meta tags according to the template, which doubled the number of indexed pages. At the moment, the number of indexed products has grown to 30 thousand pages.
5. Semantics for a specific product section have been collected.
6. The characteristics of goods in cards have been optimized. Previously, there was redundancy and repetition of data, which was unified to improve indexing.
7. New subcategories have been created in this section with the addition of relevant content.
8. The client actively published video reviews on YouTube, but they were not used on the site. We have added these reviews to the relevant product pages.
9. Missing meta tags and titles are filled in.
Results:
After implementing these changes, the number of indexed products increased by 15 thousand pages.
Traffic grew from 800 to 2,500 unique visitors per month.
We also started getting our first sales from organic traffic.
