Basic meta tags for SEO optimization

For SEO optimization, the two most significant meta tags are:

  • title
  • description

These meta tags provide search engines with information about the content of the page, which contributes to the correct ranking of the resource. When filling them out, it is important to take into account the key queries for which users can search for information.

Meta title tag

Meta tag title is a page title that must be unique for each page on the site.

Title is displayed in search results as a link, as well as in the name of the browser tab.

If a meta tag is not specified, the search engine may show the page URL or H1 title instead.

Search engines use the Title meta tag to evaluate the relevance of a page to user queries. Based on this header, users decide whether to go to the site.

A title that most closely matches a search query will have a higher chance of ranking at the top of the search results.

When drafting the Title, it is recommended to consider the following tips:

  • The title must accurately reflect the content of the page and be informative.
  • The title length is from 60 to 80 characters. If the title is too long, the search engine may cut it off.
