How will the SEO industry change with the new option?
In recent weeks, the RuNet has been discussing a new ICS parameter, checking its impact on sites and trying to find patterns. We also conducted research, studied the ICS of all sites in our database and talked with our subscribers to find out what ICS values their projects have.
60 people took part in one of the surveys on Telegram. In first place is ICS in the range from 20 to 100, in second place - from 100 to 500 (with a slight gap from the group “above 500”).
76 people took part in the survey on VKontakte. Here, too, ICS values from 20 to 100 were more common, but the category “above 500” was in second place.
Since the new parameter was introduced by one of the largest search services, it will undoubtedly cause a wave of discussions among webmasters and SEO specialists, as it did with TCI. However, the question is: will ICS have an impact on the SEO industry as a whole? We decided to turn to experts for their opinion.

What do you think about the new website quality metric?
At the moment it is more of an advertising campaign with minor improvements in search algorithms. If Yandex makes the calculation of ICS more transparent, perhaps it will be actively used for promotion, trying to inflate the values. But it is unlikely to become a significant factor for SEO. ICS will only strengthen Yandex’s position: “make websites for people and improve their quality.”
How will the new setting affect SEO?
As expert analyst Dmitry Ivanov correctly said, a metric cannot influence the object that is being assessed. In order to improve usability, time on site and commercial factors, it will cost more than just making a good site.
Have any studies been conducted on this parameter?
We did not notice any changes in our projects. We just saw that for new sites with a TCI of 10, the ISI became equal to 20. We are waiting for what will happen next.

What do you think about the new website quality metric?
This is another “potbelly”, like its predecessor - TCI. The TCI indicator did influence the ranking in the Yandex catalog and the cost of links in some systems, but the TCI is unlikely to have a significant impact.
How will the new setting affect SEO?
I don't think so. And, I hope, there will be no attempts to manipulate its use.

We noticed that for prioritizing semantics, IKS works almost the same as TCI. Alone, this indicator is not particularly powerful, but in combination with other factors it can be useful.

Not everyone understands exactly how the IRS is calculated, what factors influence it, and whether it can be increased. But offers to purchase links to increase ICS have already appeared.
How will this setting affect SEO?
Some analysts believe that ICS may be a new TCI with elements of behavioral factors. However, another group of experts is confident that this will lead to a decrease in the value of links. We are not building strategies yet, but only collecting data and creating models.

What do you think about the new website quality metric?
It is too early to talk about the real impact of ICS. We checked hundreds of new sites, and for them the ICI coincides with the TCI. For larger projects, the situation is more interesting: the more pages and traffic a site has, the higher the ICS. However, in some niches, for example, in medical topics, ICS indicators do not depend on traffic.

ICS is just an assessment of the quality of the site. It will not directly impact rankings, traffic or other important metrics.

We have made preliminary assessments in some niches and plan to conduct additional studies in the near future to understand the impact of ICS on search results.
