The taxi industry in small towns has become extremely competitive in recent years. Many companies create their websites to attract customers via the Internet, but often neglect SEO optimization, losing the opportunity to receive additional traffic from search engines.

In this example, we will talk about the successful promotion of a taxi website specializing in intercity transportation in one of the cities. Initially, the site generated almost no traffic, attracting only about 100 visitors per month. The goal was to significantly increase this number by applying effective SEO techniques.

Detailed description of the situation:

- The company provides intercity transportation services in its city and surrounding areas.

- The market is quite competitive, but many players do not pay attention to SEO.

- The site was created recently, but is not yet optimized for search engines.

- Traffic from search was minimal - about 100 visitors per month.

- The goal of the project is to increase traffic to 400 visitors per month through SEO.

Despite our narrow niche and limited geography, we believed that the right SEO strategy could lead to significant growth. Now let's look at what steps were taken and what results were achieved.

1. Analysis and strategy

Before starting work, a detailed analysis of competitors and the current state of the search market was carried out. We studied the websites of leading taxi players in the region, identified their strengths and weaknesses from an SEO point of view, and also analyzed popular queries on the topic of taxi, their frequency and level of competition.

Based on the data received, requests were grouped by type, based on the stages of the customer journey:

1. Information requests (for example, “taxi cost from the city”, “schedule”, etc.)

2. Navigation queries (for example, “taxi number”, “taxi website”, etc.)

3. Transactional requests (for example, “order a taxi to another city”, “call a taxi”, etc.)

This grouping made it possible to identify the most promising requests for promotion and intelligently distribute efforts for each type of request.

Further actions were aimed at implementing the following strategies:

1. Technical optimization of the site:

  • Eliminate errors that slow down page loading
  • Creating robots.txt files and sitemap.xml
  • Optimizing titles, meta tags and URLs
  • Checking and adjusting site indexing

2. Content optimization:

  • Development of unique content for targeted requests
  • Using LSI keywords and semantic core
  • Optimizing texts and headings for search queries
  • Creating internal links between relevant pages

3. Working with external factors:

  • Increasing link mass through placement on specialized resources
  • Placing a company on maps and catalogs
  • Working with reviews and mentions in the media

4. Monitoring and analytics:

  • Setting up web analytics (for example, Yandex.Metrica, Google Analytics)
  • Tracking positions for key queries
  • Regular analysis and adjustment of the strategy based on the data received

Thus, the strategy relied on an integrated approach, covering both internal and external factors of SEO optimization.

2. Implemented changes

After preparing the strategy, we began to gradually implement changes on the site. Here are the main measures that have been taken:

2.1 Adding the "Basic Services" menu

One of the first steps was the introduction of the “Main Services” tile in the site menu, which helped improve navigation and provide visitors with quick access to key sections of the site.

The decision was based on the following reasons:

  • Simplify navigation for visitors and improve behavioral factors.
  • Quick availability of information, which helps improve interaction with the site.
  • Dividing services into categories, which made the content more targeted and relevant.

2.2 Implementation of the tag module

To improve the site structure, a tag module was added, which made it possible to tag various types of content, which provided the following advantages:

  • Improving internal linking by adding links to similar materials.
  • Allowing the user to easily find the information they need through a tag cloud.
  • Strengthening semantic signals for search engines.

2.3 Improvement of tables with links

Clickable cells were added to the table pages of the site, allowing users to go to more detailed pages with additional information or online ordering options.

These changes had two main goals:

  • Increased user experience and engagement.
  • Increasing the relevance of pages through links from tables.

2.4 Implementation of the cost calculator

A calculator was introduced on the site to calculate the cost of a trip, taking into account various parameters (distance, time and additional services), which attracted targeted traffic for requests related to cost calculations.

2.5 Adding the “Reviews” and “Similar Services” block

To increase user confidence, customer reviews and a block offering similar services were placed on the site, which helped increase time on the site and improve interaction with visitors.

2.6 Other improvements

Technical improvements were made, including creating a site map, optimizing the 404 page and adding information to the footer, which improved usability and trust in the resource.

3. Results

The implemented measures brought positive results, which confirmed the effectiveness of the SEO strategy.

3.1 Rating for targeted queries

After all the changes, the site significantly improved its position for key queries, which allowed it to enter the TOP 10 of Yandex for high-frequency queries.

3.2 Increase in traffic

Traffic from search engines increased several times, reaching more than 400 visitors per month. This also had a positive effect on the site’s visibility in search results.

3.3 Increased visibility

The number of page views in search results has increased significantly, which has improved the site's visibility.

4. Further recommendations

Despite the good results, the project requires further development:

  • In-depth work with low-frequency queries.
  • Expanding internal linking between services and cities.
  • Link building.
  • Monitoring competitors and their SEO activities.

It is also recommended to continue creating additional content and strengthening external links to increase authority
