In this video, I will explain how to install and configure the SEO plugin for the WordPress platform.
A WordPress SEO plugin is an important tool used to improve a website's search engine visibility and performance.
This plugin provides powerful features such as creating XML sitemaps, customizing breadcrumbs, and templates for titles and meta descriptions with snippet previews.
It's a great tool for content analysis and optimization, as well as integration with webmaster tools.
The plugin is available for free, although there is a paid version with additional features.
First, let's install and activate the SEO plugin in the standard way.
Once activated, a new notification icon will appear at the top of the screen.
Click on it and select “Setup Wizard” in the menu that appears.
The SEO plugin setup wizard will launch.
The first step is to choose whether the site is ready for indexing by search engines. I selected the "Site is ready for indexing" option.
Click "Next" to move to the next step.
Here you need to select the type of site from the proposed options.
I chose "Blog".
The next step is to indicate whether your site represents a person or an organization.
I selected "Individual" and entered the corresponding user profile in WordPress.
Next, we indicate what types of content should be displayed in search results. I left everything as default: articles and posts.
The next step is setting up information about the presence of several authors on the site.
I chose the "No" option.
Now you need to set up headings or Title for the content on the site.
Site title and heading separator.
I selected the vertical bar and the titles will appear as follows: Post Title | Site name.
The next step is to choose whether the extension will collect information about your site. I chose "No".
Then the plugin will offer to subscribe to news from developers.
If this is interesting, you can subscribe, or continue tuning.
The last step is to complete the plugin setup.
You can now go to the SEO plugin section in the admin console.
In the "General" section we will see a notification that the SEO settings have been successfully configured.
Let's go to the "Opportunities" section.
Here you can enable or disable individual SEO plugin services.
I left everything as is.
Then let's go to the "Integrations" section, which allows you to connect the plugin with products from other developers. I also left everything as default.
The last section on the page is “Webmaster Tools”.
Here you can link your site to webmaster tools from various search engines.
To do this, you need to get a verification code and enter it in the appropriate field.
For example, for Google you need to follow the link and confirm rights to manage the site through the tag.
We receive and paste the code into the plugin settings field.
Click "Save changes".
After this, return to the confirmation page and click “Confirm”.
The site is now confirmed for use in Google Search Console.
Go to Google Search Console and add a site.
To do this, select "Add resource" and enter the site URL with the http or https prefix.
Click "Continue".
A message appears indicating that ownership has been automatically verified.
Now you need to add a sitemap for the Google search engine.
We return to the plugin settings and open the XML sitemap.
Copy the sitemap URL and paste it into the field in Google Search Console.
After that, click “Submit”.
After reloading the page, the file will have the status "Successful".
Now let's connect the site to Yandex.
Follow the link and receive the Yandex verification code.
Paste it into the appropriate field and save the changes.
Then click “Check” in Yandex.Webmaster.
After successful verification, we continue setting up the plugin.
Now let's go to the "Display in search results" section and set up SEO parameters for the main page.
We include SEO titles, meta descriptions and other settings for social networks.
In the Content Types section, you can set up SEO for posts and pages.
For media files, we will leave the default settings.
In the "Taxonomies" section we set up SEO for categories, tags and post formats.
In the "Archives" section you can configure settings for post archives.
The Breadcrumbs tab allows you to set up SEO for breadcrumbs.
The last section is "SEO parameters for the RSS feed".
Now let's go to the "Social Networks" section.
Here you can specify the addresses of pages on social networks if the site represents an organization.
In the "Tools" section you can import and export plugin settings, as well as edit robots.txt and .htaccess files.
Click "Start SEO data optimization" to apply the changes to the site.
Once you've set up SEO settings for your posts and pages, you can change them as you edit the content.
For example, you can see how an entry will appear in search results on a mobile device and PC.
After editing, update the page.
Your site is now fully set up for SEO.
