Restoring traffic after moving

The process of changing the CMS to a more modern system turned out to be problematic. After the move, search traffic dropped sharply, and our task was to restore positions and improve site indexing.

To diagnose problems, we deployed the old version of the site on a technical subdomain and conducted a full audit to identify all errors and shortcomings.

Technical audit

More than 230 parameters were checked, among which several key problems were identified that require immediate solutions:

  • Lack of canonical tag on catalog pages. This led to duplicate content in search results.
  • Broken links. The presence of deleted products, links to which remained on the pages, caused errors when users navigated.
  • Errors in sorting products, which led to the display of missing items in categories.

Visual inspection of the old site

The analysis showed that important product attributes were not transferred to the new site. This not only worsened the user experience, but also reduced the effectiveness of the filters on the site. As a result, attributes were added and filters were restored.

Analysis of statistics of the old site

To identify pages that led to traffic and sales, statistics from Yandex Metrics and Google Search Console were analyzed. This step allowed us to return important directory subsections that had previously been deleted.
