How to Increase Organic Growth by Over 400%: Research from an SEO Specialist

This is an increase of 426%. As a result, one of the companies was acquired by another, a platform for interacting with customers. I now use the same process to lead SEO at my company and here's a snapshot of our organic keyword growth as proof. If you want to accelerate your organic growth with an effective SEO strategy, check out the five proven steps I've taken to achieve amazing results.

First, why is it so hard to stand out in searches?

The goal of growth is simple: search presence means quality traffic, which ultimately turns into sales. In fact, marketers who prioritize blogger efforts are 13 times more likely to see positive ROI. This doesn't mean blogging is the only way or the best way, but it's what works best for us. Content creation can have a powerful long-term effect: Over its lifetime, one compound blog post generates as much traffic as six decaying posts. Of course, this year most companies realize the importance of blogging. Today, many marketers say that creating blog content is their top marketing priority. Unfortunately, this leads to a new problem: the results become a bit crowded. Keyword difficulty increases. Almost every topic you can imagine already has dozens of guides and tutorials. Most industries have become noisy, making it difficult to stand out. Ultimately, it's more important than ever to be focused with your site and the content you publish. Additionally, search results have become so competitive that personal websites no longer have a chance to rank due to companies doing extensive SEO.

1. Start with audience research

When you need to take your results (like traffic) to the next level, it's never an easy task. This problem is easier to solve when you already have a loyal audience - even if it's small. Why? Because you can ask them what they like, what they don't like and what they want more. We've found that when people see that you truly have their best interests at heart, they are more than happy to talk to you and share your vision. The key to success in audience research is setting strong goals for your research. This applies to surveys, interviews, and any other methods you choose. For example, I had the following research objectives that I wanted to gather information on: Understanding brand messaging Education about audience development Insight into content strategy UX and site navigation Email marketing research I conducted 30-minute interviews with a sample of the audience: typically this middle and senior level managers. Here are some of the questions I asked in these interviews that you can implement into your own audience research process: What are your most common daily tasks? What are your main business goals? How would you describe “our site” to your grandmother? Come up with your own slogan. What is the main advantage of our product? What might stop you from subscribing to our mailing list? What content would you find useful? What type of content is a waste of time? Based on the responses I received from my recipients, I compiled a list of topic clusters and understood the types of content that were most in demand.

2. Conduct an SEO audit of the site

Why an SEO audit? Think of it this way - if search engines can't read your content, then you'll have a hard time reaching your target audience. Additionally, people leave a site if it takes more than three seconds to load. An SEO audit involves scanning your website with a tool and then analyzing the data. Here are some things you should look for: Duplicate pages Unindexed pages Robots.txt file Incorrect links Broken media assets (video and audio files) Broken links URL structure Pages with long loading times Some of the problems I found on the site are: included missing referring domains, unoptimized URLs, poor internal linking structure, and some search query issues. Once we had a list of questions, we tackled them one by one to lay a solid foundation for future content creation and optimization.

3. Develop new content opportunities

As I mentioned earlier, our audience research has helped us identify the topics that most help them advance their careers. With these themes in mind, we looked for gaps in existing search results. We did this for topics where we wanted to increase authority, such as cold calling, best sales tools, Excel sales templates, and more. Here are some of the existing patterns we've seen: Low-cost rounding Definition-based content Theoretical content Lack of focus on user intent Long presentations We decided to go the opposite way and deliver what our audience is asking for: get to the point quickly with zero resistance, deliver great content and offer checklists of tools and tips, with an informative writing style. This worked so well for us that we ended up producing an excellent amount of material on the topic of Sales.

4. Update and optimize existing content

If you have an audience of any size, that probably means you also have a library of published content. What is your goal? And does it serve your audience in the best way? Optimizing past content is one of the most powerful ways to increase your blog's effectiveness. We've found that our audience doesn't want to feel like we're constantly selling them something. So the first thing we did was rework our content so that it would not sell, but would provide new knowledge. Some of our most successful updates have included: Making our listings longer and more comprehensive. Creating in-depth guides on topics we've only covered in the past. As a result, our existing content has skyrocketed in search rankings.

5. Share your homepage and navigation with your audience

I think the homepage redesign was a huge boost to growth. Right after I took over marketing, this version of the home page likely made it harder for people to take the actions we wanted. The key approach to redesigning our homepage was to establish clear goals at the heart of the process. In this case, those goals were: Show people what we do. Make the process of signing up for your email list super simple. Help visitors quickly and easily find the content they need. Demonstrating social proof. We've mapped out the ideal new site structure with categories and subcategories. This allowed us to achieve the following: Increased participation of site visitors in content exploration. The shortest path to the most important content on the site.

This process will not give you results overnight. In fact, most efforts to improve your organic presence will take months to produce significant improvements. Remember - these steps describe exactly what we did to move from a low organic presence to a high authority community hub. Do you want to grow at a fast pace?
