How to develop as an SEO specialist. Career path.

Let's be honest - at least the basic principles are obvious, but it is important to list them so that everyone can understand where to start.

The beginning is the entrance to the profession.

As in any field, the best way to learn something new is to start doing it and get feedback from experienced colleagues. SEO is no exception.

You need to find real projects to work on, as well as a mentor who can help you understand the intricacies of the profession.

One without the other will not give the desired result or will take too much time. If you work without a mentor, you risk not knowing whether you are doing everything right. Plus, you won't be able to learn how to do your job more efficiently and quickly.

Theory without practice in SEO is meaningless.

The best option at the initial stage is to join an SEO agency. There will be real work and experienced specialists ready to help.

You can try to study on your own, using courses or other sources. However, this path will take more time, since you will not always know what information you need to put into practice.

The most difficult thing at the start is finding a suitable job.

Getting a job at an agency without experience is difficult. I was lucky - I was hired from scratch by a large company that could afford to hire a newcomer as an assistant SEO specialist.

An assistant SEO specialist is a person who is not responsible for projects, but simply performs tasks assigned to him by a senior specialist. While a senior specialist is fully responsible for projects, and his work pays off.

Being an assistant doesn't bring instant profit to the company, but the good news is that you probably won't be in this role for long. Many companies are interested in developing such an assistant into a full-fledged specialist who will lead their own projects. Hiring an experienced specialist and integrating him into the company’s processes costs much more.

So, if you are lucky and you get into the company from scratch, you will go through a probationary period, get trained, and then start working on your own projects. Gradually, as you develop, you will be able to choose your path: deepen your knowledge and take on more complex projects or continue your career as a manager.

If you are unlucky and there are no vacancies for assistants, and the agency will not hire you without experience, then there is only one way left - training.

You can master a profession by studying on your own. This is possible if you use free resources like I did. Before joining the agency, I myself studied the available materials, which allowed me to at least slightly prepare for the interview.

However, there is a problem - how do you know what exactly you need to study? What methods work? And how to correctly apply the acquired knowledge in practice?

You need either a mentor or an online course.

However you feel about online courses, they can prepare you for the job. On the course you will learn the basics of the profession, and will also be able to improve your skills to move on.

A mentor, feedback and current promotion methods will help you learn to apply knowledge in practice.

However, it all depends on your diligence, desire and desire for success.

You should choose your courses wisely.

Among my friends there are people who spent more than 500 thousand rubles on education, but, oddly enough, the course for 30 thousand rubles turned out to be the most useful and gave 80% of all knowledge. I recommend that before purchasing a course, you understand the topic at a basic level in order to understand what exactly is being offered to you and what you will be learning.
