How I started studying SEO or the story of the SEO course

1. How did I get to the course “Profession SEO Specialist PRO”?

You can skip this part; there is little benefit to you here. There won't be a cool success story from beginner to expert here. I worked in different companies, and by the time I started SEO training, my income was already 150 thousand local currency with bonuses and additional privileges such as health insurance and fitness. There was enough for everyday expenses, but not enough to buy a home in a big city. There are no children yet, and, accordingly, the hypothetical mortgage rate did not suit me. I didn't want to live in a small apartment in the suburbs, so rising housing prices were the catalyst for a career change (previously I worked in law).

I have acquaintances and friends who work in SEO. Despite the fact that this field is related to IT, salaries in SEO are still not as high as for programmers. A good specialist can earn about 200 thousand per month, which is suitable for the regions, but in the capital it is not such a large amount. So why did I choose SEO?

I tried programming once, but it didn't become my thing. I liked SEO much more. In addition, here, as in other remote professions, you can lead your own projects. As a lawyer, it is difficult to find time to work during your free time, since your main activity requires communicating with clients during office hours. In SEO, you can combine work in a company and your own projects, which makes it possible to earn even more than in typical IT fields.

2. First stage: books, free courses on the Internet, etc.

- I started with the book “SEO Monster”, written by a famous specialist. It's very useful, but in my opinion, it's worth getting familiar with the basics of SEO first before diving into more advanced material.

- Of the free courses, I can only recommend one, from a well-known online academy. There are several modules and mandatory homework with testing, which is very important for a novice specialist.

- I also looked for answers through search engines, but everything is not so simple here. Many materials on the Internet are out of date, and filtering by date does not always help. In SEO, it is important to adapt quickly to changes as search engine algorithms are constantly changing.

- It is also useful to watch webinars by famous experts who share practical experience. They teach not only theory, but also provide up-to-date information on specific aspects of promotion.

After working through these sources, I realized that I needed structured training. Since I couldn't leave my day job, I needed to speed up the process. And then I found a course that suited me in all respects.

3. Purchasing a course and pros/cons

I signed up for the course, signed up for an installment plan, and now I’m already starting the first module. The installment plan allowed me to save money, since I paid it off immediately, but if I spread out the payment over a long period, I would end up paying more than for the course at full price.

Pros of the course:

  • The cost of the course was 60 thousand, which is quite reasonable. It consists of a main course and three additional modules that provide useful information that will be useful in real practice.
  • Eternal access to the course. Once you complete the training, you are given access to all course materials and updates to the knowledge base, allowing you to keep up with new changes in SEO.
  • Homework is a key component. Unlike purely theoretical materials, they allow you to test your skills and get feedback from experts.
  • Chat with the curator, where you can get additional recommendations and answers to your questions.

Disadvantages of the course:

  • If you have enough time, you can find the information yourself, spending much more time, but without the cost. However, this course provides you with structure and assistance to speed up your learning process.
  • Some topics are not covered in sufficient detail. However, this is not critical for beginners, and in the future you can gain more knowledge in practice.
  • No voice training. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but for some people it may be a disadvantage if they are used to more personalized learning.
  • Technical problems sometimes take time to resolve. For example, there are times when the learning platform is updated and this may cause delays in the learning process.

Tip: While learning, also search for additional information on the Internet to reinforce your knowledge and broaden your understanding of SEO. This will help you not to depend only on the course materials and will speed up the process of gaining practical skills.
