Not long ago I told how I was hired as an SEO specialist, where I did God knows what, just not SEO itself.
It's time to tell you how I quit this "job".
Unfortunately, initially I did not ask for a normal computer and it was my mistake. But overall, the computer was satisfactory, so I didn’t really bother the management about this. On the other hand, when they installed a new computer, I noticed that I was doing many things 10 times faster.
The main reason is the lack of a budget as such. It seems that the campaign has been on the market for a very long time, but I didn’t notice or feel any budgets there. It feels like it’s unclear what they were doing there before I arrived, and so I came and started experimenting with contextual advertising in direct messages for 10 tr. (it’s funny) and for links 10 thousand rubles. (this is no longer funny, but sad).
As a result, after 5 months I sat down at the negotiating table with the owner and realized that they could not “pull” me. It's a pity. The guy (the owner) is a good guy himself, he knows how to count money and demand from his employees... but what does he demand? He demanded profit from me in the truest sense of the word. Like “look, you’ve been working here as a SEO for half a year”... actually 5 months - “and we just lost money on your salary and 100k on advertising.” Normal, right? And this is taking into account the fact that they themselves wanted to advertise, no one forced them to run this advertising. Damn, this is the same as opening an online store selling clothes, hiring a director, giving him a budget of 10k a month and asking him to work off his salary of 80k rubles with advertising.
Because I needed money. And it worked. And you already know how this happened. I actually planned to quit from the very beginning of my job, because... immediately after being hired, they discovered that their vacations were not paid, sick leave was not paid, etc. In short, tough!
Everything in Russian business is difficult. You need to look for large offices. There, at least the IT advertising department won’t come and say: “fix my printer” or “boys, go help the client take our product to her car.” But even in large ones there are problems. I'll tell you about them later.
