One of the main advantages of SEO promotion is regular monitoring of the site’s condition. This is especially important in situations where problems suddenly arise that can significantly impact the visibility and functionality of the resource.
I recently came across such an example in practice. The client asked me to conduct a technical audit of his website and set up notifications about possible errors. Some time later, I received a message about an issue that could negatively impact the site.
What happened? Yandex reported that its search engine considered the client's site a copy of another resource that has no value for users. This happened due to the fact that an empty technical page was created, and the search engine began to treat it as the main site. As a result, Yandex could exclude the main site from search results, showing a blank page instead.
How did this threaten the site owner? If the search engine continued to consider the site a copy, its ranking in search results could drop significantly. The user would not notice anything unusual because the site would remain accessible, but traffic and sales would likely cease.
How did I solve the problem? I immediately contacted the technical administrator of the site to sort out the situation. However, even the administration specialist did not know what the causes of the problem were and how it could be eliminated. This was a rather difficult case, but as a result, it was possible to prevent serious losses and restore the correct display of the site in search results.
It is important that such problems can be avoided if you set up error monitoring in advance and regularly check the status of the site. Prevention in SEO is no less important component of the work than direct optimization.
What would you do in such a situation? Have you encountered similar problems on your websites?
