However, the cost of an hour of work in this case was not indicated. Let's look at this issue from a different point of view. The average salary of a middle-level SEO specialist in an agency is about 80,000 rubles per person. This is the level at which an SEO specialist is able to effectively promote sites of medium complexity. Specialists of this level are in demand, and finding remote work does not pose any particular problems. What conclusion can be drawn? In order to remain a competitive freelancer, you need to strive to earn at least 100,000 rubles per month. This is approximately 12-13 projects. If a freelancer works alone and has one day off per week, he is allocated 2 working days for each project, which is about 16 hours of work per month. This is quite acceptable if other specialists are working on the project - editors, copywriters, content managers, webmasters, etc. In this case, the task of an SEO specialist is limited to technical specifications, semantic core, verification of completed work and analytics.
But what if the specialist works alone? Then the costs of programmers, copywriters and other performers significantly reduce the profit from each project. At the same time, the load grows, and the number of projects increases to 20-25. Based on this, we can assume that to obtain significant results in SEO it will take from 6 to 10 months with a budget of 85,000 rubles. This is approximately 110 hours of specialist work, which corresponds to 660-1100 hours required to achieve the first results. If an SEO specialist works 16 hours a month on one project, the full promotion cycle will take at least 41 months, or almost 3.5 years. And this is provided that the specialist works only on the project and does not waste time on advertising, communicating with clients and monitoring other performers.
So, is it possible to launch SEO promotion for 8,000 rubles per month? In principle, this is possible, but such conditions are not suitable for every niche and region. In our practice, there were projects that took off after a technical audit and several consultations. However, such sites are the real “unicorns” in the portfolio. In most cases, the work will go very slowly and the results will not appear soon, or the project will be completely abandoned and the money will be wasted.
You need to understand that the cost of SEO specialists’ work on the market varies, but rarely is it less than 1,000 rubles per hour. In addition, a significant part of freelancers’ working time is spent finding clients and communicating with them. In order to earn more than in agencies, a specialist must take part in a larger number of projects. It usually takes from 1 to 3 hours to develop one landing page, and for analytics you need at least 1 hour per month. With a budget of 8,000 rubles per month, you can expect to work on 2-7 pages. If the site consists of 10-20 pages, this budget may be sufficient for initial development. However, if there are significantly more pages, for example 100 or more, then the first stage of work may take more than a year.
As a result, the real situation is this: for small niches and regions, SEO for 8,000 rubles per month can produce results, but for larger projects and sites with a large number of pages, this will not be enough.
