About the cost of SEO services

I often communicate with potential clients about SEO website promotion. Over the years of work in the industry, many interesting stories have accumulated.

I recently spoke with a customer. He looked at the portfolio, we discussed the features of the work and the cost. After this, the customer took a break. The next day he said that he had chosen another specialist, although during the communication it was clear that I suited him. It turned out that another contractor offered a price twice as low.

I'd like to share some thoughts on SEO pricing.

Where does the price for the service come from? It's an intangible product, so it's often difficult to know how much it actually costs. The market will balance prices and demand: if a service is too expensive, it will not be in demand, and if it is too cheap, this will raise doubts about its quality. Thus, the minimum market price for the service is established, and the price increase depends on the specialist’s experience and ability to justify this price tag.

All clients are different:

◉ Some behave correctly and clarify points from time to time. After a couple of months, such clients completely trust the specialist, without asking unnecessary questions, and allow them to work on the site without constant interference.

◉ Others are interested in all the nuances of work, call and write even on weekends. As collaboration progresses, interest wanes, but activity remains high throughout the project. It is comfortable to work with them, they remain correct in communication.

◉ Still others call 24/7, demand detailed reports on each completed task and have difficulty paying for services. Their requests often sound like: “Now I have my own SEO specialist, he must justify every dollar invested!”

By the way, with experience I noticed an interesting trend: the higher the cost of services, the more clients of the 1st and 2nd types appear. At a cost of 20 thousand rubles per month and above, type 3 clients begin to disappear; as a rule, they are not ready to pay such amounts.

Previously, I took on all projects that were suitable for SEO promotion - it was interesting, and money is always useful. Now I choose not quantity, but quality. Already at the stage of communication with some potential clients, I understand whether the project is worth taking on or not. When experience is gained, not only the work is done efficiently, but also the nerves remain intact.
