In this article we will discuss the topic of SEO. I invited Kirill, who earns about $10,000 a month from traffic, to tell his experience.
Me: Hello! Tell us how you came to your income?
Kirill: During my school years, I was interested in online games, in particular Lineage. We had a clan, and I decided to create a website for it. I started learning how to create websites, came across one platform for this, but immediately realized that the site traffic was very low.
At computer science school, the teacher taught us the basics and CSS, and I decided to try it in practice. I started making websites for friends for little money. However, when new assignments began at school, the topic of websites faded into the background.
Later, I created a website based on a popular game, started researching domains and hosting, and visitors started coming to the site. I soon came across WordPress and started using it to create websites.
Kirill: I made an English version of the site, registered a domain with the name of the game, and traffic from foreign users began to arrive. I also used plugins that stimulated social activity and put one of them on the “Download” button. The result was impressive!
Then a new game appeared that was hard to find. People started actively looking for where to download it, and this gave me a good flow of traffic. Through Google Adsense I earned about 20,000 rubles per month. But then I received a letter demanding that I transfer the domain, and I had to do it.
Me: I had a similar experience. I also made websites for popular films as a teenager, the traffic was great, but after a while it dropped. It was necessary to make a new website. If you want, I will tell you more about this on my blog.
Kirill: After that, I started working with affiliate programs and created an online store selling Chinese phones. I earned a little money, but in the end this project did not live up to expectations.
I went to university, but studying was not as easy as I thought, and I realized that more effort was needed.
Kirill: I started looking for a job and created a resume, despite the fact that I had minimal experience. I arrived for an interview, where the owner of the agency offered to pay me 10,000 rubles for promoting each site. After just a couple of weeks, I earned 30,000 rubles, and as a result, for the month my income amounted to 60,000 rubles.
Me: When I came to the agency as an intern, I was paid 45,000 rubles, and I also had to collect my resume myself.
Kirill: I started to understand SEO and recruit clients. But due to the overload, I began to make mistakes, and I was fired.
I got a job as an arbitrator for a company that dealt with mobile advertising. He worked without salary, receiving a percentage of the profits.
Meetings of people from my field were held in St. Petersburg, and at one of them I met a person who invited me to work with product categories on Facebook. I joined his team and worked there for six months.
Me: How did you come up with an effective SEO bundle?
Kirill: I was tired of work and went home to Barnaul. There I made a multilingual website and ordered content from copywriters, translating it into other languages. This brought me about 100,000 rubles.
Then I went with friends to Europe, and at some point I earned 800,000 rubles. I bought a car, but I didn’t have enough money, so I had to take out a loan.
However, after a while, my income started to drop and I had to pay off the loan using a credit card.
Me: How did you make your latest websites?
Kirill: When my income dropped to 20,000 rubles a month, and the loan still remained, I started working with trading. This started bringing me traffic and I closed the loan.
Me: How can I repeat your experience and make websites that will bring in money?
Kirill: We take a product, preferably with an affiliate program, and create a website on WordPress. Registering a domain is an important step. You need to set up multilingualism by installing the appropriate plugin. Next, we order the content and translate it into different languages. After that, we add the site to Google Search Console and start working.
Me: If you launch 10 domains, how many of them will be successful and how many will not?
Kirill: I launched several websites and they all generated income. But one site became popular and now has 1,000 visitors a day, while the other has only 50.
Me: How do you choose your drops?
Kirill: I found a source where Ukey domains were sold. There was a table with domain characteristics. I selected the ones that suited me and checked them in the Webarchive to make sure they were in the index.
Me: Is it important that they are in the index?
Kirill: Yes, this is important, but the topic may be different. I choose domains that are not tied to any narrow topic.
Me: What do you automate in your work?
Kirill: I use a program for automatic translations. Texts are downloaded automatically and distributed into categories. I use the API and ZennoPoster to automate the process of uploading content to the site, after which all I have to do is add images and publish.
Me: What skills are needed to replicate your success?
Kirill: Basic skills and CSS, ability to search for information on the Internet. You need to know how to buy domains and connect hosting. I also recommend mastering ZennoPoster. It is important to understand the basics of SEO.
Me: Is a good level of English required?
Kirill: My English is not perfect, but it is enough to work with translators.
Me: What advice would you give to someone who wants to make money like you?
Kirill: Try even the smallest ideas. And don't be afraid to do what you don't know how to do.
