The customer's department head changed and he decided to replace me with another marketing agency. The decision was made without my participation, and the work had to be completed ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, the new contractor made serious mistakes that led to a drop in bids. Now we are eliminating the consequences and restoring the site’s position.
1. The new contractor decided to change the URL structure by removing the document extension at the end (.) and adding a slash. 2. The site used regional promotion technology, which provided a significant share of applications. After the changes were made, correct redirection was not configured (301 redirect), which led to a loss of positions in search engines.
The screenshot shows a decline in one of the key queries. Such rash actions led to a significant decrease in applications throughout the month. It takes time for search engines to restore positions, especially if the site has a large structure - more than 50,000 pages. The reasons for these changes are not clear to me, but it is obvious that the performers did not have enough competencies.
