Google Search indexes AMP pages to provide users with a quick and reliable web. When the AMP page is available, it can be shown in mobile search as part of advanced results and carousels. Although AMP in itself is not a ranking factor, the load speed is an important factor for Google Search. Google Search applies the same standards to all pages, regardless of the technology for their construction. To obtain more information about the advantages of using AMP, read the examples of successful AMP projects.
When the user selects the AMP page, Google Search loads the page from the Google AMP Cache, which allows you to perform a number of download optimizations, thanks to which such pages are often loaded instantly, for example, through blocking. Currently, AMP pages on desktop versions are not served through Google AMP Cache/AMP Viewer. The canonical AMP pages behave as standard search results in Google.
AMP pages can appear in Google Search as advanced results, just like other pages on the Internet. To help Google better understand your page, you can add structured data. It is important to note that the addition of structured data does not guarantee that the page will be displayed as an extended result in the search. To obtain additional information, check out the guidance on structured data.
If you have duplicate pages with the same content, place the same structured data on all these pages, and not just on the canonical one. For additional information on the placement of data, see the Guide on structured data.
AMP pages can also appear as Web Stories. Learn more about how to activate Web Stories in Google Search.
When users press the AMP content in Google Search, content can be displayed in two ways:
The Google AMP Viewer is a hybrid environment in which you can collect data about users in browsers supporting the Google Amp Viewer. Google AMP Viewer can be activated when our systems determine that this will improve the user experience, especially in cases where it is supposed to scroll through content. Google data collection is regulated by Google Privacy Policy. As a publisher of the AMP page whose content is displayed in the Google AMP Viewer, you are responsible for compliance with data collection obligations based on your choice of behavior and integration with service providers in the AMP page.
Signed Exchange allows you to use the first -person cooks to configure content and measure analytics. In this case, your page is displayed under your URL, and not at Google.com/amp. Google Search gives priority to the content of the Signed Exchange format, and not the use of Google Amp Viewer in browsers supporting the Signed Exchange. In order to provide users with the result in this format, you need to publish an AMP content as a Signed Exchange in addition to the usual AMP format. At the moment, Signed Exchange is supported by Google Search only for advanced results and basic results, but not for carousels. In order to learn more about setting up Signed Exchange for AMP pages, read the "How to serve AMP via Signed Exchange" section.
