SEO is a panacea for marketplaces

We've had a lot of SEO questions come up in our chat recently, and I wanted to cover a few key points. Lately I can’t always answer everyone, so I’ll tell you about the most important aspects.

Each seller on the marketplace has two main tasks: ☑️ Fill the funnel with traffic ☑️ Increase conversions at each stage of the funnel

Everything else is not worth our attention. To increase conversions at all stages, I have already shared methods more than once, such as: ✅ Work on the sales funnel ✅ Increase CTR ✅ Increase cart conversion

There are two main ways to fill your funnel with traffic: organic and paid traffic. However, the effectiveness of both methods directly depends on the quality of SEO optimization.

Until recently, it was a popular practice to use multiple keywords in all fields - the more keywords and categories, the better. And it really worked, despite official statements about the need to shorten characters in SEO. If your product is already in the organic top, there is no need to change SEO - this is obvious.

If your product is not in the top, you will be forced to use paid advertising, and most often they start with internal advertising. But what should SEO optimization for marketplaces look like? It should be:

  • Relevant
  • Laconic
  • Human readable

If you follow my blog, you've probably read about my experiment, during which I radically reduced SEO texts, and this allowed me to get to the organic top.

SEO is just a piece of the puzzle! Nothing more!

I have repeatedly tried to convey this idea, but it often remains misunderstood. Unfortunately, many people believe that by ordering professional SEO, they will immediately receive hundreds of orders. But that's not true.

SEO, with the right keywords, will help your product rank well for certain queries. But actual orders and specific positions in search results are determined by a number of other factors that relate to setting up a sales funnel, not just SEO.

Another misconception is the expectation that long texts about the product and its benefits will work. In fact, effective SEO now consists of 100-500 characters. Don't expect long essays. These are relics of the past.
