JavaScript SEO: rendering

One common question SEOs have is how search engines handle rendering pages that use JavaScript. When a page is loaded using JS, there is a concern that the crawling process will be too slow. However, in practice, the rendering timeout typically does not exceed 5 seconds for the document being scanned.

The rendering process involves drawing the page as it appears to the user in the browser. All elements, including those built using JavaScript, are made available to the crawler, provided there are no restrictions on crawling and all script files are up to date and available for download.

Googlebot uses the Chromium engine version 74, which allows it to support most of the features of modern browsers. However, it is worth remembering that a search bot cannot perform scripts that require user interaction, such as clicks or form filling. This means that everything that needs to be indexed must be available immediately in the DOM document. If any items load after a click or interaction, they will not be indexed.

Additionally, Googlebot cannot scroll the page, which may affect which parts of the page are loaded and indexed. For mobile devices, the visual size of the page is 411px wide and 12140px high, and for desktop it is 1024px by 9307px.
