Hello, my name is Denis and I am an entrepreneur.
Over the years, I have been able to work with a large number of SEO agencies, and in this article I would like to share my experience working with contractors. I am sure that my experience will be useful to everyone who is currently looking for SEO services, since often the issues of monitoring work and pricing remained unclear to me.
For example, it was always unclear to me what exactly was being done on the site, why it was needed, and what steps would be taken next. What will happen next with our progress and what options are there? This prompted me to write this article to help other entrepreneurs find a quality contractor faster.
In the article, I'll explain basic SEO terms and what really impacts results and what doesn't, as well as share my experiences with a good SEO agency and what they included.
The first step is to figure out what factors are really important for SEO promotion. Currently, there are two main search engines for the Russian-language Internet - Yandex and Google.
There are many factors that influence search results, but I will list the most important for each system:
Yandex:
Google:
As you can see, there are really many factors influencing success. But even from these basic factors, one can draw conclusions about what steps need to be taken after the site audit.
Pricing is a key issue that is worth talking about in more detail. Very often, SEO agencies offer services at a fixed price rather than by hourly hours. However, sites can be completely different, and the time spent on auditing them will also vary. This creates one big problem: small sites may overpay, while large sites may not have enough time for a thorough analysis. As a result, if the agency has a limit on the number of hours, the work may be performed poorly, which affects the results of the promotion.
For example, one site may require 3 hours for an audit, and another - 10. Obviously, for the same price, these works cannot be performed with the same quality.
As I already mentioned, one of the main problems in communicating with SEO agencies was a lack of understanding of what exactly is being done on the site. I was often unable to check whether certain jobs had been completed.
As a rule, I did not communicate with the SEO specialist himself, but with the manager, whose main task is to sell the service and retain the client. However, such a specialist often could not explain what exactly was being done on the site and offer useful solutions to the current situation.
The situation changed dramatically when I started working with an agency, where the report on the work done was provided not by the manager, but directly by the SEO specialist who led my project. During monthly calls, I received detailed reports of the work completed, as well as an explanation of the reasons for each task completed. Together we discussed a plan for the next month, which presented options based on goals and budget.
It is this approach that has become for me the quality standard that I use when forming my internal SEO team, and later when creating an SEO agency that works with quality services.
