The process of changing the structure of your site may be required in some cases. This must usually be done in the following situations:
The simple process of creating a new page will not be a full solution. The indexing robot will perceive the page as two independent pages with new and old addresses, which will lead to errors in indexation. In order for the change of page address to be performed correctly in the search results, you need to perform the following actions:
Configure the redirect from the old address to the new (301 redirect). In this case, the robot will index the new address, and the old address will be removed from the search. Over time, the search robot will visit new pages, and they will appear in the search results. If necessary, you can use a chain of redirects, where the ultimate goal will participate in indexation. To check the indexation, use the webmaster in the detour statistics section.
Check that the new page address is available for the robot and the server responds with the code of 200 OK with the correct content. This can be checked using webmaster tools in the server response section. Make sure that important pages are not prohibited for indexing through the Robots.txt file using the Robots.txt analysis tool.
If the pages have already been deleted from the site, but the theme has not changed, configure the redirect with code 301 to the main page or to a similar section. In the case of significant changes in the subject, the server must return the HTTP-404 code to old pages, which will remove them from the search results.
Use the pages re -reversal tool to accelerate the indexing of new pages. The pages sent to re -exposure will be indexed within two weeks. Old pages with a redirect can also be sent to a re -exposure for their rapid exclusion from the search.
Add new pages to the SITEMAP file. To do this, go to the SITEMAP files to the webmaster to the page and send a modified or new overcoming file.
Check that the navigation menu already indicates new addresses, and if the old pages are still indexed by third -party resources, ask their owners to update links.
When you change the design and layout of the site, but do not change page addresses, it is important that the new content is available for indexing by a robot:
Make sure the pages give the content in full. If JavaScript codes are used to generate content, the robot will not be able to index this data. It is recommended to make content available in the code at once when loading the page without the need to use scripts.
Check that there are no Robots prohibiting metathegs with the noindex directory or links with the attribute of Rel = "Canonical", indicating another page that can be canonical.
Make sure that all Noindex tags have closing tags, and that the pages are correctly configured for indexing.
Check that Keywords, Description metathes and Title title are correctly configured on new pages.
