Black hat SEO: how I punished scammers

Recently an unpleasant situation happened to me: I called plumbers and became a victim of a classic deception scheme. I was looking for an organization with a good reputation and real legal status, so that if something happened I could file a claim. But, as it turned out, even a trusted site can hide not very honest performers.

When the plumbers arrived, I immediately asked about the cost of the services. They named the price, but after completing the work they presented an invoice with a completely different amount. Despite all my objections and calls to the dispatcher, I still had to pay the bill.

After I read the reviews about this company, it turned out that I was not the only one who fell for this hook. 86 one-star reviews confirmed that this organization regularly deceives customers. Here are some of them:

It was very unpleasant, but I decided: “I’m an SEO specialist, I’ll make sure that people don’t fall for this deception, and I’ll take revenge for myself!”

Action plan

I wondered: how can I influence the position of their site, since it was in the search results that I found this company. When there is no access to hosting or admin, there are few options left. But I came up with a few ideas:

  • Buy a lot of rental links to the site and, as soon as they are included in the index, immediately delete them.
  • Buy links with anchors related to unpleasant topics on the link exchange (the cost of one link is up to 500 rubles, including text writing).
  • Registering your site in spam online directories will only take a few hours, but the method is free.
  • Buying a pass on one of the services that promises to “ban” a site using a link explosion is a reliable but expensive method (about 8,000 rubles).
  • DDOS attack - I don’t do this myself, but I heard that there are programs and bots that can do this automatically and much cheaper, although I have not delved into this issue yet.

To evaluate the effectiveness of my actions, I collected 99 search queries for which this site ranks and track their positions in search engines such as Yandex and Google for the St. Petersburg region.

In general, I have long wanted to try black hat SEO methods in practice, although I have never used them in my work for ethical reasons. But here the situation developed in such a way that it was decided to take advantage of this chance. After weighing the pros and cons, I started by purchasing a couple of links with anchors related to inappropriate topics and seeing what effect it would have.

Results

The results are still intermediate, since only two weeks have passed since the start of the experiment. I only used one of the methods of influencing the site’s position, but I’m already seeing results. Positions for many queries from the TOP 10 fell by 50 points or more.

"Plumber urgently in St. Petersburg" - from 1st place to 57th

"plumber in St. Petersburg" - from 4th place to 57th

"need a plumber in St. Petersburg" - from 8th position to 58th

"call a plumber in Kolpino" - from 7th place to 58th

"turnkey plumbing in St. Petersburg" - from 11th place to 78th

Don't lie and you won't be spammed!

I suggest this commandment be remembered by everyone who is trying to manipulate search engines for their own benefit!
